(Apple Partners with Amazon-Backed Startup Anthropic for New AI-Powered Coding Platform) – According to sources familiar with the situation, Apple is collaborating with Anthropics, an enterprise funded by Amazon, to develop a novel “vibe-coding” software system designed to utilize artificial intelligence for writing, editing, and testing code on behalf of developers. This information was shared by Bloomberg News.
The term “vibe coding” denotes a programming technique wherein AI entities create code, a notion that is increasingly becoming trendy within the realm of artificial intelligence.
The latest AI coding system serves as an enhanced edition of Apple’s development tool, Xcode, and will incorporate Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet AI model, according to the report.
Anthropic chose not to comment, whereas Apple has not yet responded to Vmeetsolutions News’ requests for commentary.
The report also mentioned that Apple intends to roll out the software for internal use first, as the company has not yet made up its mind about making it publicly available.
Earlier, Apple unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered coding tool called Swift Assist designed for use within Xcode. This tool was slated for release in 2024; however, it has not been provided to developers yet due to certain reservations among Apple’s engineering team regarding possible delays in the app development process, as reported by Bloomberg.
Coding assistants are becoming increasingly popular in the quickly changing AI world, as Bloomberg News reported last month that leading GenAI company OpenAI is negotiating to acquire the artificial intelligence-powered coding tool Windsurf for approximately $3 billion.
In the face of fierce rivalry amongst leading technology corporations vying for supremacy in the rapidly growing generative AI market, Apple is progressively forming alliances with well-established AI enterprises and incorporating numerous AI functionalities directly onto devices to boost their services.
