Authorities state that this involves setting your iPhone to ‘Do Not Disturb’.
Morgan Dean from AAA states that distracted driving accounts for 9% of deaths.
According to a report from the DMV, Virginia saw more than 1,500 distracted driving accidents involving cell phones in 2023, six of which were deadly.
Currently, AAA is striving to promote the activation of ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode during driving to reduce the urge to use phones. Nonetheless, their research indicated that certain individuals are hesitant to utilize this function when behind the wheel.
Number 12 reached out to several Virginia motorists today to gain insights into their opinions regarding this feature.

The study found drivers who choose not to use DND while driving fear limited access to music and navigation, but Morgan Dean says that is not the case.
“So we would urge individuals to examine that phone to understand what actions are permitted and which ones aren’t when in that mode, helping them stay more focused while driving,” Dean stated.
