Although Goku stated his desire to mentor Uub with the aim of making him Earth’s protector, both Vegeta and the viewers were well aware that Goku’s real motive was to locate an immensely powerful adversary capable of challenging his abilities. Despite Goku’s genuine concern for future generations, his primary focus has consistently been his individual progression as a warrior. By taking Uub under his wing, Goku exhibits a self-centered drive, secretly hoping this training will enable him to reach unprecedented levels of power through battling the reborn version of Kid Buu. This situation encapsulates the essence of Goku’s priorities.

by itself, this makes complete sense.

At the conclusion of the series, Goku undeniably emerged as the most powerful being across all universes.

It’s puzzling why Goku would choose to leave such capable training partners as them behind just to focus on Uub, who showed remarkable promise during the Moro arc. Despite this, it’s important to remember that Kid Buu wasn’t nearly as powerful.
