I’ve got a particularly distinctive phone number, akin to “123-4567” in memorability.

It’s distinct, so people often think I’m making it up when I give it out.

For years now, some businessman named Dan has been giving out my number to clients or people he doesn’t want to deal with, just to brush them off.

It’s become a huge nuisance.

I’ve generally been courteous when those individuals phone me, simply informing them that they dialed the incorrect number.

Gradually, I’ve accumulated quite a bit of knowledge about Dan simply through conversations with the caller, such as his complete name, job position, and the organization he represents.

He’s very real.

I was never interested in getting entangled or contacting him personally.

Therefore, he attempts to halt it. In an inventive manner.

However, after years of this silliness, I’ve reached my limit.

Recently, whenever somebody asks for Dan, I mention that he relocated to Arizona due to “Certain legal troubles and financial misconduct.”

When asked about a new point of contact at the firm, I mention that the entire operation is currently under investigation.

I genuinely wish this rumor reaches him, but—Dan, please stop sharing my phone number.
