Gon Freecss is the main protagonist of
Hunter x Hunter
,
so it is not surprising that he has had a lot of fights. That said, there are quite a few notable
HxH
characters Gon has never fought. Most of these characters are villains, and they are all exceptional Nen users with powerful abilities. Gon did not fight several of these characters because they died before he could fight them. In other instances, it just was not the right time for him to fight them.
Gon is an Enhancer who has also become proficient in Transmutation and Emission. The Limitation Transformation ages Gon into an adult, and his attacks are powerful enough to crush a Chimera Ant Royal Guard like they were an ordinary soldier. Gon has defeated some noteworthy characters with his Nen, but some of the
HxH
characters he has not faced would be challenging opponents.
Phinks Magcub Is One Of The Phantom Troupe’s Strongest Members
Nen Ability: Ripper Cyclotron
Gon has met nearly every member of
the Phantom Troupe
, but he has only faced a handful of them in actual combat situations. Phinks is part of the Troupe’s Commando Team, which means he is a frontline fighter who protects the group’s weaker members. When Gon and Killua were captured by the Troupe, Phinks personally dealt with Killua, while Gon was captured by Machi.
In terms of physical strength, Phinks is now the Troupe’s strongest member, and he utilizes a fighting style which revolves around snapping and twisting his opponent’s neck quickly and silently. Phinks needs to rotate his arm clockwise in order to use his Ripper Cyclotron ability, and 15 rotations was enough to completely destroy a durable Chimera Ant’s body. Gon is an Enhancer who specializes in melee combat, so it is a good thing he did not fight Phinks because his head would have likely been twisted in seconds.
Shaiapouf Was A Chimera Ant With Deceptive Speed And Strength
Nen Ability: Cocoon, Beelzebub, Spiritual Message
Shaiapouf was a butterfly-humanoid Chimera Ant who served as one of the King’s Royal Guards. Despite his lanky and non-threatening appearance, and his calm and rational personality, Shaiapouf was a dangerous fighter and capable Nen user. Gon met Shaiapouf, but they never fought even though Gon was perceived to be a significant threat. He decided to leave Gon to Neferpitou instead.
Shaiapouf was a Manipulator who could bestow powers onto others by wrapping them inside a cocoon. This process could turn humans into Chimera Ant hybrids. Shaiapouf did very little fighting, but he was fast enough and strong enough to disarm Morel and pin him to the ground before the experienced Hunter could even react. Had Shaiapouf teamed up with Neferpitou, Gon would have not stood a chance.
Feitan Porter Is A Lethal Phantom Troupe Member Who Can Create Miniature Suns
Nen Ability: Pain Packer
Feitan became the interim leader of the Phantom Troupe during
the Chimera Ant Arc
when he defeated Zazan, a former Chimera Ant Squadron Leader who established her own nest. Thanks to his incredible speed, Feitan is one of the Troupe’s most lethal fighters, as he can cut through multiple targets in the blink of an eye. Feitan may have held Gon down and threatened to interrogate him in Yorknew City, but they never actually fought.
The Gon of the Yorknew City Arc had not even developed his Nen ability yet, so he would have definitely died if he fought Feitan one-on-one. Feitan would have literally removed the young Hunter’s head using his sword or razor-sharp nails. If Feitan is ever forced to use his Pain Packer ability, he can create a miniature sun that can burn anything around him to a crisp.
Zeno Zoldyck Is A Veteran Assassin Who Can Still Fight The World’s Best Nen Users
Nen Ability: Dragon Head, Dragon Lance, Dragon Dive
The Zoldyck Family are the most feared group of assassins in the world, and Zeno is the former head of the family. He is also Killua’s grandfather. Gon briefly met Zeno in passing while they were both at the Royal Palace in East Gorteau, but they were too focused on their respective missions to have any sort of meaningful conversation. Zeno has mastered all known advanced assassination techniques and is a highly skilled Nen user. During the battle with Chrollo, Zeno was able to comprehend Chrollo’s ability and develop an effective counter in seconds. He is an Emitter who can also use Transmutation, and he often shapes his Nen into dragon-like constructs. Zeno can attack targets from afar with his Dragon Lance technique, and he can unleash a Nen bombardment from the sky after creating a massive Nen dragon.
Uvogin Was Arguably The Strongest Enhancer In Hunter X Hunter
Nen Ability: Big Bang Impact
Not only was Uvogin
the tallest

, but he was a founding member of the Phantom Troupe and the group’s strongest member in terms of raw physical strength. Uvogin is the only Troupe member that Gon never met, which is a good thing because Uvogin could have destroyed him with a single punch. The argument can be made that at the time of his death, Uvogin was the strongest Enhancer in the world.
When going all-out, Uvogin used his aura to gain superhuman strength and immense durability. He developed his Big Bang Impact punch to be as destructive as a small missile, which means he would have easily flattened someone like Gon. The Shadow Beasts were considered the strongest Nen users within the Mafia community, and Uvogin was powerful enough to easily kill three of them using only his mouth while the rest of his body paralyzed.
Silva Zoldyck Is The Most Feared Assassin In The World
Nen Ability: Explosive Orbs
Silva is Killua’s father and the current head of the Zoldyck Family, making him the world’s deadliest assassin. Gon may have visited the Zoldyck estate on Kukuroo Mountain, but he and Silva never officially met, and they have still not crossed paths in the
HxH
manga. Silva is an Emitter who has also mastered Enhancement. As a result, he can produce large spheres that can injure and even kill master Nen users with powerful explosions.
Thanks to all his training, Silva has mastered every assassination technique, and his body is basically immune to all forms of poison. Even poison that would normally paralyze a whale cannot take him down. In the past, Silva defeated one of the Phantom Troupe’s strongest fighters. More recently, he killed Cheetu, the fastest of the Chimera Ant Squadron Leaders, with a single stomp.
Isaac Netero Was Once The World’s Strongest Nen User For Decades
Nen Ability: 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva
Isaac Netero was the 12th Chairman of the Hunter Association, but more importantly, he was once considered the world’s strongest Nen user for decades. He may have been over 100, but Netero could still move with insane speed and squash most opponents with his Nen ability. During the Hunter Exam Arc, Gon attempted to take a ball from Netero for hours, but this contest was by no means a fight.
The 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva technique was fully revealed during
Netero’s fight with Meruem
. It summons a multi-armed Nen construct that performed quick and devatating palm thrusts. This construct could also produce a devastating aura blast. In a one-on-one fight, the only way Gon could conceivably beat Netero is if he uses his adult form, and even then, his transformation might run out before he can land a hit on Netero.
Menthuthuyoupi Was Arguably The Strongest Of The Chimera Ant Royal Guards
Nen Ability: Metamorphosis, Rage Incarnate, Rage Blast
Menthuthuyoupi, otherwise known as Youpi, was the least humanoid of the Chimera Ant King’s Royal Guards, but the argument can be made that he was the strongest member of the trio. Gon ran into Youpi during the assault on East Gorteau’s Royal Palace, but no clash occurred because Neferpitou was Gon’s only focus. Instead, Youpi faced Knuckle and Shoot, and Morel eventually joined the fight with
Godspeed Killua
.
Youpi was a Transmuter who could freely control any part of his body. Thanks to this ability, Youpi can assume more monstrous forms and grow extra limbs. It is also the reason Youpi possessed unimaginable strength, durability, and stamina. As his rage increased, Youpi could swell up and unleash a destructive blast that left large craters behind. He could also use rage to transform into a near-indestructible centaur. Even Gon’s adult form might have not been able to put Youpi down.
Chrollo Lucifer Can Steal Nen Abilities And Fight Multiple Nen Masters At Once
Nen Ability: Skill Hunter
Chrollo is the founder and leader of the Phantom Troupe, and although his physical strength ranks 7th, he is without a doubt the group’s strongest member. Gon met Chrollo in Yorknew City, but they never fought each other. It is a good thing Gon had not developed his Nen ability when he met Chrollo, because there is a good chance Chrollo would have stolen it with his Skill Hunter ability.
Stealing a Nen ability is one thing, but Chrollo can also use these abilities as if they were his. Chrollo is a Specialist and is considered a prodigious Nen user, which explains why Hisoka is so eager to fight him. Unlike Gon, Chrollo was able to eliminate multiple highly skilled assassins single-handedly and is strong enough to fight Silva and Zeno at the same time without suffering any serious injuries.
Meruem Had The Power To Take Over The Entire World
Nen Ability: Aura Synthesis
Meruem was the King of the Chimera Ants, and many anime fans believe he is one of
the strongest anime characters of all time
. Gon may have been perceived as a threat to Meruem’s life, but they never actually met. He was too focused on Neferpitou and avenging Kite to pay any attention to Meruem, who was the much bigger threat. Meruem was born with a superhuman amount of Nen and was naturally an Emitter. He was proficient in Transmutation and Manipulation too.
Meruem’s Aura Synthesis ability allowed him to enhance his Nen by eating other Nen users. He was also able to absorb some of their Nen abilities. Meruem could destroy Chimera Ant Squadron leaders with a single tail swipe, and he could tear off someone’s limbs in the blink of an eye. Not only was Meruem able to overpower Netero, but he withstood the full power of Netero’s 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva without suffering any critical injuries. It took a miniature nuclear bomb to take Meruem down, so it is a good thing Gon never faced him.
