Enhance Your Samsung Galaxy S25 Experience with Key Settings
When you first get a phone like the Samsung Galaxy S25, it’s natural to start using it right out of the box. The device is already highly functional and performs well without any adjustments. However, many users overlook the fact that tweaking a few key settings can significantly improve their overall experience. Whether it’s making your phone run faster, preserving battery life, or streamlining daily tasks, these small changes can make a big difference.
The S25 is packed with features that are often hidden in menus you might not think to explore. Samsung offers extensive control over how your phone looks, feels, and functions. But unless you take the time to dig into the settings, you may miss out on some powerful tools. For example, adjusting animation speeds can make your phone feel more responsive, while customizing notifications can help keep your screen less cluttered. You can also enable battery protection features to ensure your device lasts longer over time.
These changes don’t require any technical expertise or complex processes. They’re built-in options designed by Samsung for a reason, giving you more control over your device without the need for rooting or third-party apps.
To help you get started, here are five important settings you should consider adjusting on your Samsung Galaxy S25. These tweaks are simple to implement, don’t require any additional apps or tools, and can instantly enhance your phone’s performance.
Group Notifications and Quick Settings Together
If you’ve just started using your S25, you might notice that the notification panel and quick settings are separated. Swiping down from the top left or center of the screen brings up your notifications, while swiping down from the right side opens the quick settings panel.
While this setup works for some, it can be frustrating for others who prefer everything in one place. It’s easy to accidentally swipe on the wrong side and open notifications when you only wanted to adjust brightness or turn on “Do Not Disturb.”
Thankfully, Samsung allows you to group notifications and quick settings into a single panel. This way, no matter where you swipe from, you’ll see all your settings and notifications in one location. To do this, open the quick settings panel, tap the pencil icon to enter editing mode, then go to Panel settings and change the option from “Separate” to “Together.” Once done, your quick settings will appear directly above your notifications.
While in the editing menu, you can also rearrange the quick settings to better suit your needs. For instance, you can place Bluetooth and Hotspot next to each other, or if you prefer a cleaner look, you can remove unnecessary options and keep only the most essential ones.
Customize the Power Button
Most people use the power button simply to turn the screen on or off or to shut down the phone. On the S25, however, the side button has more capabilities than you might expect. Samsung allows you to assign two types of actions to the power button: a double press and a long press. This means you can set it up so that a quick double tap or a long hold can launch something useful without unlocking your phone or navigating through menus.
For example, if you frequently take photos, you can set the double press action to open the camera instantly. Other options include launching the flashlight, opening the magnifier, starting a voice recording, or even launching a specific app of your choice.
For the long press, the default option is usually Bixby, but you can customize it to open the digital assistant or bring up the power off menu, which is typically accessed via the quick settings panel. To make these changes, go to Settings, tap “Advanced Features,” and select “Side Button.” From there, you can choose what happens when you double-press or long-press the button.
Adjust Notification Categories
Notifications are helpful, but they can also be overwhelming. Some apps send too many alerts throughout the day, and not all of them are relevant. For example, you might want to be notified when someone replies to your YouTube comment, but you likely don’t care about livestreams or random video suggestions. That’s where Notification Categories come in handy.
This feature lets you control exactly which types of notifications you receive from each app, ensuring you only get the alerts that matter. First, you need to enable the feature, as it’s not turned on by default. Go to Settings, tap Notifications, and select Advanced Settings. Then, enable the option called “Manage notification categories for each app.”
Once enabled, return to the main Notifications menu and tap on the app you want to manage, such as YouTube. Scroll down and tap on Notification Categories. You’ll see a list of all the different types of notifications the app can send. From here, you can disable the ones you don’t want and keep the important ones.
Use Battery Protection Features
Charging your phone to 100% might seem like the right thing to do, but over time, it can actually harm your battery. Keeping your phone at full charge puts more stress on the battery, which can reduce its lifespan. While it won’t immediately damage the battery, doing this regularly can lead to shorter battery life in the long run.
To prevent this, the S25 offers three Battery Protection options. The “Basic” setting charges your phone to 100% and stops until it drops to 95%, then tops it up again. The “Adaptive” setting tracks your sleep patterns and charges your phone to 80% while you sleep, then finishes charging to 100% just before you wake up. The “Maximum” setting is the best for battery health, as it stops charging at 80%.
If you’re okay with not charging your phone to 100%, the Maximum setting is a great choice. It helps preserve your battery health and ensures your phone lasts longer. You should also avoid letting your phone drain completely; instead, keep it above 20% whenever possible.
Change the Animation Speed
The S25 is already a fast and powerful device, but you can make it feel even more responsive by adjusting the animation speed. When you open an app, return to the home screen, or swipe through menus, your phone shows smooth animations. These are already quick by default, but you can speed them up further with a few simple tweaks.
To begin, you need to enable Developer Mode. Go to Settings, tap on About Phone, then select Software Information. Tap on Build Number about ten times until a message says Developer Mode is active.
Once enabled, go back to Settings and scroll down to find Developer Options. Tap on it and look for the following three options: window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale. By default, they are all set to 1x. Tap each one and change it to 0.5x.
After making these changes, all animations on your phone will run at double the speed. Whether you’re opening apps, switching between screens, or scrolling through menus, everything will feel quicker and smoother.
