Hidden Laptop Maker Unveils Cutting-Edge Mobile Workstation: 13th Gen Core i9 & 32GB RAM, But Is the GPU Missing?

  • Chuwi’s latest CoreBook X comes equipped with an Intel i9-13900HK processor and 32GB of RAM.

  • The absence of a dedicated graphics card can restrict performance for more demanding tasks.

  • A lightweight laptop with 2K capabilities provides decent specifications yet falls short in terms of graphics power.

Chinese laptop maker Chuwi has announced a new version of its CoreBook X notebook, powered by a 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900HK “Raptor Lake” processor.

This chip was released back in Q1 2023 and has 14-cores and 20-threads and can reach clock speeds of up to 5.4GHz. It comes with integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics, so will offer reasonable performance for tasks such as content creation, productivity, and light gaming.

It’s unfortunate that there isn’t an option for a dedicated GPU for those who require additional graphics power, however.

Reasonably lightweight

The latest CoreBook X with an i9-13900HK processor comes equipped with 32GB of DDR4 RAM, which can be increased to 96GB, along with a 1TB PCIe SSD. Should additional storage be required, you have the option to install a secondary M.2 2280 SSD.

The laptop measures around 12 x 9 x 0.7 inches and has a 14-inch 2K (2160 x 1440) IPS display with a 3:2 aspect ratio that covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and offers an 85% screen-to-body ratio. It weighs in at 3.09lb (1.4kg) and has a backlit keyboard and a 5.8-inch touchpad.

The CoreBook X i9-13900HK includes a 46.2Wh battery capable of providing up to eight hours of use before needing a recharge. It also supports fast charging, enabling it to reach a 60% charge level in less than one hour. To manage heat effectively, the device incorporates a dual-copper-pipe cooling system along with a specialized fan designed to maintain lower temperatures during intensive tasks.

The device includes a comprehensive USB-C port, dual USB 3.0 Type-A connections, an HDMI interface, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. For wireless capabilities, it supports Wi-Fi 6 along with Bluetooth 5.2.

There’s still no information regarding the pricing or release date, but the
