The research firm discovered that two vulnerabilities enable hackers to install malicious software on a device, which can subsequently spread to every other device connected via the same Wi-Fi network.
Oligo referred to these vulnerabilities as ‘AirBorne’ because they enable attackers to completely seize control of devices and utilize this access as a starting point for additional exploitation.
These vulnerabilities, known by the intriguing titles of CVE-2025-24252 and CVE-2025-24132, create opportunities for cyber criminals to execute ‘highly advanced attacks,’ including activities like spying or deploying ransomware.
Consider scenarios where attackers run harmful scripts to seize control, pilfer your private data, listen in on discussions, or bring down the device.
Since AirPlay functions with numerous third-party devices—amounting to tens of millions—the company Oligo warns that iPhones could remain susceptible if the manufacturers haven’t issued updates.
Don’t be concerned, however. It’s quite possible that your Apple gadget is protected against these troublesome viruses.
Apple applied the required updates on April 28 to its system.
